S. Douglas Adkins

Doug Adkins has been practicing law for more than 26 years in West Virginia. Doug is a graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration. Upon graduation in 1976, he attended and graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law.
During his years of practice, Doug has tried numerous cases to jury verdict in addition to arguing before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals as well as the Fourth Circuit, United States District Court of Appeals. Prior to joining the team at Cyrus & Adkins, he was a partner in a defense litigation firm where he represented insurance companies, product manufacturers, hospitals, physicians and other defendants. This vast experience and knowledge of the insurance industry now immeasurably benefits the clients of Cyrus & Adkins. He has also lectured at legal seminars on insurance coverage and other legal issues.
Like his law partner John Cyrus, Doug is an experienced and accomplished mediator and has served as a mediator in hundreds of civil cases throughout southern and central West Virginia.
